I got sick earlier this year and went to a physical therapist 6 weeks after becoming sick.

When I later saw my medical records, they incorrectly said, "Patient has had symptoms for 6 months." (It should have been 6 weeks not 6 months!)

This was enough of an error that had my health insurance company seen this particular file, they could have branded me as having a "pre-existing" condition, since I'd been with them for less than 6 months.

So in short, I agree 100% about the importance of staying on top of your medical records. It could literally be worth 10s of thousands of dollars or more.
