I think so many people struggle with insurable interest because they don't understand the purpose of life insurance. I'm also baffled at how many people think they don't need life insurance when they are healthy and feel entitled to a policy after they are sick.

I think the life insurance industry as a whole (companies, agents, etc) is mostly to blame for the lack of useful information that is available. It is hard to find really straight life insurance educational materials out there without a serious marketing slant. I like what LIFE is doing with life insurance awareness month, but it is just a drop in the bucket.
