Robin,

Several things come to mind. Give me a call. I'm not sure I agree with how your agent handled this.

My husband applied for life insurance and the company came back and said that nicotine was found in his urine. This is a mistake! He has not used any type of tabacco products in over 2 years and he is not around any smokers. They also said that he was prescribed nicotine lozenges which he never was! I'd love to see where they are getting this. They approved him for the tabacco rate which cut the policy amount in half but for the same monthly fee. Our agent told us that we would have a hard time getting approved through another company because now it would show on some database that he was approved at a tabacco rate. I asked that another urine test be done and they said no because we could alter the results. Like wouldnt we have already done that if we were trying to hide something? My agent said to take the tabacco rate so at least we had some insurance in place and he could be retested in a year but I feel like that is admitting tabacco usage. Any ideas? Thanks.

Companies don't share records and in fact give no indication that they have declined an individual. Each company underwrites a case based on their own criteria and the merits of the case as they perceive it. That is why, quite often, one company will approve what another company has declined.
