It's obvious you've been in the industry a long time. Perhaps you're being a bit hard on CNN and insure.com. I don't think they are liars... probably just ignorant of the carriers you mentioned. Yes, they should have done more research, but I'll say this in their defense. I've been a life insurance agent for 4 years and didn't know your secret about family history. Great tip, by the way. Clearly, knowing what each carrier will do, and not do, is a key in making it possible to recommend the right carrier. Of course, I also agree that it's critically important that your agent be objective (and not be in any carrier's back pocket). I agree with most of your analysis.
